Parking at Vangarde Shopping Park
Vangarde Shopping Park provides parking for over 1,300 cars.

What is changing and why?
We have recently implemented new changes to parking at Vangarde Shopping Park.
Match days will now see a reduction in the maximum stay from 4 hours down to 2 hours, only between 12pm – 4pm.
At present ‘match days’ are classed as such when York City FC and York City Knights first teams are playing.
This could also include any other large-scale matches or events which are being played or held at the LNER Stadium.
This is a requirement as part of the Travel Plan for the shopping park and enables us to manage the car parking for our shoppers.
Car Park Procedures: Non-Match Days
- Enforcement will be between 09:00 – 18.00 so vehicles that arrive within these times will have 4 hours max stay.
- There is no return within 2 hours. A vehicle can enter and leave multiple times throughout the day but once you have stayed longer than 4 hours a parking charge notice will be triggered.
- There is a 20-minute grace-period, this gives customers 20 minutes to check signage and park, as well as leave the car park, this is added to the 4 hours.
- There will be no option to extend your stay beyond the 4 hours. The maximum stay is in place to ensure there are always available spaces for people to park.

Accessible Parking:
Disabled spaces are provided for blue badge holders who are shopping with us.
Blue badge holders are exempt from the 4 hour (and 2 hours on match days) parking restrictions – If you are a blue badge holder, please ensure you visit the Management Suite (located next to Prezzo) to validate your parking so that you do not receive a parking charge notice.
You can do this either on arrival or when you are about to leave the shopping park.
Please note: should you wish to park here at Vangarde Shopping Park and use any facilities elsewhere off site (ie attending football or rugby matches, or the leisure centre), a £5 parking charge applies. This is payable using the cashless machines located on-site.
Frequently asked questions:
How will I know if it’s a match day?
There will be repeater signs located around the car park and A Boards situated all along the walkways highlighting that ‘today is a match day’.
What if I am going to watch a film at Cineworld?
Vangarde Leisure has its own separate car park outside Hollywood Bowl. This is not owned or managed by Vangarde Shopping Park.
What if I am going to watch a rugby or football match next door at the LNER Stadium?
Please see the ‘Car Park Procedures: Match Days’ section above for the applicable details.
Please note that you can also pre-book a parking space via York City FC or York Knight’s websites. These spaces are located within the Park and Ride area and not here on the shopping park.
What is ANPR and how does it work?
ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) uses cameras to digitally capture vehicle registration numbers as cars enter and exit a car park. This data is used to monitor the duration of stay and enforce parking rules without the need for physical barriers or staff.
Will there be penalty charges for overstaying?
Yes. Vehicles that exceed the permitted stay period without valid payment or authorisation will receive a Parking Charge Notice (PCN) by post within a few days.
Is there a grace period before penalties apply?
Yes. In line with existing codes of practice, a 20 minute grace period is added on at the end of the parking period. Whether this is max stay or paid parking, this ensures you have the full allocated time available and time to leave the car park.
How do I pay for parking?
Payment is cashless and made via the payment machines (located along the main walkway in front of M&S, NEXT and GO Outdoors).
What if I need to stay longer than the free period?
You have a maximum of 4 hours stay on the car park. We are unable to extend parking beyond this period.
What happens to my personal data?
Bransby Wilson, who manage the car park, collect personal data via ANPR. This processed securely and only used for reviewing parking charges and responding to queries.
Can I appeal a parking charge notice?
Yes. Each PCN includes instructions for appeal. You can challenge the charge if you believe it was issued incorrectly or if there were mitigating circumstances.
We are unable to deal with any PCN’s which are issued here at the Management Suite – please follow the online appeals process, details of which are noted on the PCN.
