Our Work in the Community

Vangarde Shopping Park is committed to doing as much as it can for the local community. The team goes above and beyond to raise money for charity and volunteer time to make a difference.

The team has raised thousands of pounds for local community initiatives and charities since November 2017, as well as spending hundreds of hours of volunteering across York and North Yorkshire.

Charities we support

We’re proud to be supporting York Against Cancer and York Teaching Hospital Charity as they look to raise money for their worthy causes. Look out throughout the year for events so you can donate towards these two fantastic charities.

We’ve been supporting York Teaching Hospital Charity through a number of initiatives on the shopping park, included sponsored cycles on the walkway and more.

Keep your eyes peeled when shopping at Vangarde to see how you can donate.

For years, Vangarde Shopping Park has maintained a strong partnership with York Against Cancer through various commercialisation opportunities and events to raise money for their cause in supporting local people with cancer. A family fun day held in July 2018, which was set up by the team, raised more than £1,820 for charity in the space of a few hours. The team’s other fundraising with York Against Cancer included taking part in a corporate go-karting challenge, in which they raised £780, contributing to a total of £9,000 raised by the York business community.

Our partners

Since opening in 2014, we’ve developed strong relationships in the community with various organisations.

Vangarde is a long-term partner for Kitchen For Everyone (KEY) York. As food banks become more prevalent in the UK, KEY York is dedicated to provided opportunities for all in the local community to eat decent meals. Vangarde is now not only a drop-off point for KEY York, the team has also created links between KEY York and Marks & Spencer in order to create additional opportunities for the charity. KEY York now also hosts fundraising opportunities in store and food is donated from the M&S Foodhall, making a massive difference to the cause

Vangarde Shopping Park has established a partnership with Blueberry Academy to improve employability skills and showcase the opportunities available in retail. Blueberry Academy aims to promote independence and employability to those with learning difficulties.
