Retail Matters Week – Carl, our Operations Manager discusses his role and community initiatives
Carl Bailey, Operations Manager at Vangarde Shopping Park, is celebrating his third anniversary with Vangarde Shopping Park, completing a number of roles with his customer services team and the tenants.
His customer service is nationally-renowned, winning multiple awards which are highly coveted in the shopping centre industry.
Carl talks to us about what he enjoys in his role:
“I’ve always been in customer-facing roles since I left school – alongside a number of security and facilities management roles in Scotland, Doncaster and York. I’ve now celebrated three years at Vangarde and every day there is something different to do and people to speak to.
“Vangarde Shopping Park has a number of high-quality stores and restaurants and I am a firm believer that our team must give the best customer service it can in order to further enhance that experience. We’re dedicated to making a difference to our customers and that has been shown through the awards the team has won.
“This role highlighted me to the different opportunities there are in retail from a security and customer service perspective – retail isn’t just about working in stores, there are other opportunities which all add to that experience and help to make a retail environment function and I’m glad to be a part of it.
“The element I enjoy most about working here is creating and being involved in our community-based initiatives. Being in a role such as this gives us the platform to make a difference to our local community – something the team have been involved in throughout the last couple of years. We’ve raised tens of thousands of pounds for charity and completed hours of volunteering work to make that difference.”
