Shopping park gears up for Go Kart challenge to raise money for popular York charity
A busy shopping park has teamed up with the providers of a popular city-wide charity to take part in an epic Go Kart challenge.
On 17th March 2017, a team of five Facilities Management staff from Vangarde Shopping Park, will enter a team to compete against others in the Lord Mayor’s charity event “Go Kart challenge”.
The fund will go towards a worthy cause, York Against Cancer, which funds care, education and research to help local people affected by cancer.
York Against Cancer, which has been funding for vital groundbreaking research to prevent and cure cancer across York and North Yorkshire, hopes to continue this initiative for years to come, welcoming the help of generous donations from the public.
Vangarde Shopping Park, whose team has previously worked in collaboration with the charity for events and a multitude of campaigns, has now raised a total of 31% of its £500 target by 9 supporters so far for the Go Kart Challenge.
Deb O’Donnell, Centre Manager for Vangarde Shopping Park, said: “I am delighted that part of our hardworking team is taking part in the Go Kart challenge. York Against Cancer is a charity we have supported many times and this is a brand new idea to make a difference.
“We were extremely excited to be part of this fantastic event, especially because York Against Cancer carries out such important work as a charity – we would like to encourage the people of York to show their support for a great cause.
“The team is doing as excellent job so far and hopefully we can gather as many donations as possible to reach our target.”
Julie Russell, General Manager at York Against Cancer, said: “I am delighted the staff at Vangarde have chosen to support York Against Cancer. Every penny raised will be spent in our local area, supporting cancer patients and their families”
