Staff member at Vangarde Shopping Park goes above and beyond to help York-based charity
A staff member at Vangarde Shopping Park is going above and beyond the call of duty to help his employer’s charity of choice in his spare time.
Pete Fowler, who is part of the customer services team at the York-based shopping park, has donated his time to help York Against Cancer at a fundraising event at the Derwent Arms in Osbaldwick on Friday, December 11th from 8:30pm.
The charity aims to make a difference to local people with cancer and uses funds raised locally to improve services and raise awareness about cancer and how to understand symptoms.
Vangarde Shopping Park has used various opportunities throughout the last year to raise money for charity – including a range of initiatives to position itself at the heart of the local community.
Pete said: “I’m delighted to be able to help out York Against Cancer – especially with the work Vangarde has done over the last year to raise awareness about the charity’s cause.
“I do help out at the Derwent Arms where I can as well – so I jumped at the opportunity to pitch in and help raise funds for York Against Cancer when I found out that they were hosting an event there.
“I’m looking forward to the evening and I hope it raises as much funds as possible to help this worthy cause.”
Deb O’Donnell, Vangarde Shopping Park Centre Manager said: “We are delighted that Pete is spending his spare time to help a charity that Vangarde has had a fantastic relationship with over the last year.
“Pete demonstrates the type of service we strive to create at the shopping park – going above and beyond the call of duty to help out the community.
“We will be creating further fundraising opportunities in 2016 with York Against Cancer as we look to raise funds and awareness about this brilliant cause.”
