Shopping park teams up with local radio station to spread festive cheer with epic take on popular gameshow Deal or No Deal
One of York’s favourite destinations for seasonal shopping has been the place of giving this Christmas after adopting a unique festive approach to a popular television game-show.
Vangarde Shopping Park’s epic take on Deal or No Deal gave shoppers the chance to choose one of 24 boxes that contained prizes ranging from a box of mince pies to a John Lewis personal style appointment worth £125.
Although the event, dubbed #MerryVangarde, was free to take part, more than £200 was raised for York Against Cancer, the parks nominated charity, thanks to shopper’s generous donations.
Vangarde also teamed up with Minster FM, who brought along an ex-gameshow host to tease shoppers with the choice of seeing what was inside the box or walking away with a jeopardy prize.
Deb O’Donnell, Vangarde Shopping Park Centre Manager, said: “As Vangarde Shopping Park enters into its second festive period, we have continued to see an increase in visitors to the shopping park in comparison to last year, naturally leading to an increase in sales. We find a lot of our visitors make visiting Vangarde an occasion and come from across all of Yorkshire to shop here.
“Christmas is naturally a busy time of year for us and with large stores such as John Lewis, Next and Marks and Spencer offering a huge variety, it is drawing more and more people to the shopping park – especially as awareness about our stores and restaurants continues to grow across the region.”
