Milliner to the stars gives fashion advice to John Lewis Vangarde customers ahead of Ebor festival
A nationally-renowned milliner, who has made hats for some of the nation’s celebrities, was on hand in Vangarde’s John Lewis on Saturday, August 9th to provide fashion tips and advice to women who attended the Ebor festival.
Nigel Rayment, who supplies hats to more than 700 retailers across the country and is John Lewis’ premium hat supplier, spoke to visitors about the latest fashion trends and advise ladies on how to match hat styles to face shapes.
Nigel said: “I am delighted to be involved with John Lewis’ events to get the women of York ready for Ebor festival.
“As well as creating hats especially for weddings, I have also had experience in the past creating hats and providing advice for ladies attending Royal Ascot and I hope everyone found their perfect style before race day.”
After 39 years in the millenary business, Nigel has developed a style which is coveted by hundreds of retailers across the country. He has also established a boutique in London which sells his wide range of stylish headwear.
Nigel also brought exclusive hats to John Lewis in Vangarde, which will only be available to purchase on the day.
He said: “The hats I have created for this event were only available at John Lewis York. These are hats which will not have been worn by anyone else in the world, which will mean anyone purchasing these hats had their very own look at Ebor.
“Everyone loves something which looks unique yet stylish when they attend the races so I’m sure they will be very popular.”
John Lewis York Branch Manager Robert Garnish said he was delighted Nigel was part of the store’s Ebor festival events.
He said: “Since we opened in April, we have sought to provide the people of York with high-quality products, whether they are beauty products, household items or clothing and accessories.

“We have enjoyed helping people prepare for Ebor and we hope people found their perfect outfit for the day.”
John Lewis has organised a number of events ahead of Ebor festival, including a number of personal shopper sessions from Monday August 4th to Wednesday August 6th.
