John Lewis York help customers get race ready
In the run up to the iconic Ebor festival at York racecourse being held from 20th to August 23rd, John Lewis York is helping shoppers get race ready by offering free personal styling and beauty consultations in store. Customers will also be treated to a special tutorial with internationally-famous designer and milliner, Nigel Rayment.
Personal Styling Sessions
In preparation for the races, John Lewis York customers can pre-book free two hour ‘Races Special’ personal styling sessions from Monday 4th – Wednesday 6th August. A qualified stylist will help them to select their perfect outfit for the day whilst they enjoy a complementary glass of champagne and slice of cake in the surrounding of the personal styling suite.
Exclusive Milliner Tutorial
A racing outfit is not complete without the perfect hat, so on Saturday 9th August John Lewis York is hosting British milliner Nigel Rayment to talk customers through the hottest trends ahead of the races. Nigel will give an interactive tutorial on how to match hat styles to different face shapes, and customers will also have the chance to buy a one-off world exclusive headpiece.
Katherine Owen, fashion department manager at John Lewis York said: “The Ebor festival is a truly special occasion here in York, and we’re excited to be celebrating with our customers and helping them to look and feel their best on race day. This year we expect to see lots of bright summer styles, with brands like Ted Baker, Whistles and Mint Velvet all offering contemporary race looks.”
Milliner Nigel Rayment said: “The races are a great opportunity to experiment with different styles and use hats to create a fabulous fashion statement. Whether it’s a wide-sweeping brim a la Audrey Hepburn or a feathery fascinator, I’m looking forward to helping the women of York find their perfect style for Ebor.”
The shop’s make-up counters are providing free race day makeovers as well as lessons throughout race week, working with customers to glam up their look for the Ebor Fashion Lawn. John Lewis York’s make-up artists will be pulling together a portfolio of the different race looks so customers can ensure their make-up compliments their outfit choice perfectly.
The Elemis, Crème de la Mer and Origins make-up counters will also be offering free facials and special Lancôme gifts will be given with select purchases.
Specially Crafted Afternoon Tea
An English summer wouldn’t be complete without a cream tea, so John Lewis York customers can head to The Place to Eat throughout August to enjoy scones and tea after shopping for their races look.
